Word Guess

Word Guess is our take on the daily five-letter guessing game that made word puzzles popular again. You get six tries to figure out a secret word, and after every guess, the tiles change color to tell you how close you were — that color feedback is the whole game. Read it carefully and each guess gets smarter than the last.

How to Play

Type any real five-letter word and submit it — using the on-screen keyboard or your own keyboard both work. After you submit, each letter tile turns one of three colors: green means that letter is correct and in the right spot, yellow means the letter is in the word but in a different spot, and grey means the letter isn't in the word at all. Use those clues to narrow down your next guess. You have six rows total to land on the exact word — get it, and the game tells you how many tries it took.

What It Helps With

Playing Word Guess regularly builds a specific kind of thinking: deductive reasoning under a limited number of moves. Every guess after the first one isn't random — you're combining multiple clues (which letters exist, which don't, and where the right ones sit) into a single best next word, which is genuinely closer to solving a logic puzzle than "just guessing." It also reinforces spelling patterns and common letter pairings in English, since certain letters (like vowels, or combinations like "TH" and "ER") show up far more often than others, and noticing that speeds up every future round.

Tips for a Higher Score

Open with a word that has a good mix of common vowels and consonants (words with A, E, O, R, S, or T tend to reveal the most useful information early). Don't repeat a grey letter in a later guess — it's already ruled out. And when you get a yellow letter, try moving it to a different position rather than dropping it, since it's confirmed to be somewhere in the word. Saving your last one or two guesses to test genuinely different letter combinations, rather than small variations of the same guess, also helps close out tricky rounds.
